Peak performer! The CGE 1100 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is one of Celestron's "top-of-the-line" astronomical instruments. When it's used in visual mode, you can see all Messier Catalog, NGC, IC, and Caldwell objects. And you can turn the scope to the planets, too, and see amazing detail on the surface of Jupiter, Cassini's Division in the rings of Saturn, and details on the surface of Mars. Even the distant Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are within your reach.
With an f/6.3 focal reducer, the CGE 1100 also can use a wide variety of CCD or film cameras. And that means you can capture stunning images of the stars and planets for later viewing or exhibiting and for printing to share with friends.
Versatile instrumentThe optical tube assembly of the CGE 1100 weighs only 27.5 pounds, meaning the telescope is still portable enough to be taken to dark skies. It also boasts 89 percent more light-gathering power than an 8-inch telescope, allowing you to see farther and fainter, even in urban areas. This telescope is especially useful as a solid platform for long-exposure photography with optional CCD cameras or photographic equipment, making it a serious scientific research tool for college astronomy programs or amateur astronomers alike.

XLT coatings
The CGE 1100 comes with premium XLT coatings. These use state-of-the-art, thin-film, vacuum-deposition technology. To ensure consistent optical coatings of the highest quality, the process is tightly monitored and controlled by highly trained technicians. Prior to coating, each optical element is thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure proper adhesion of the films during the coating process. Materials used in our reflective and anti-reflective coatings, including aluminum, hafnium oxide, titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide, and magnesium fluoride are the purest available, exceeding 99.99 percent. The result is image clarity so stunning it must be seen to be believed.
